Apple iOS 9.2 Release ( iOS Assistance )

Apple iOS 9.2 Release Admits To High Profile Problems.

Apple AAPL -2.58% has done something pretty great since the release of iOS 9: been upfront about things. After its near silence to bugs found in iOS 8, it has gone on record on multiple occasions in three months since the release of iOS 9 to front up to problems both big and small. And this has continued following the release of iOS 9.2 yesterday…
Following in the footsteps of other iOS 9 releases, iOS 9.2 has detailed and highly transparent release notes that openly confirm issues users have suffered. These include the heavily reported alarm bug (“Addressing an issue where updating iOS could prevent an alarm from going off”), iCloud failures news of which I broke (“Fixing an issue that prevented some manual iCloud Backups from completing”) and email attachment hangs (“Fixing an issue that caused mail attachments to be inaccessible for some users with POP email accounts”).

In addition to this iOS 9.2 comes clean over a plethora of other issues:
  • Improved stability of Safari
  • Improved stability of Podcasts
  • Resolving an issue for some users that caused attachments to overlap text in mail
  • Fixing an issue where Live Photos could have turned off after restoring from a previous iCloud backup
    • Addressing an issue that could cause search in Contacts to display no results
    • Resolving an issue that could have prevented Calendar from displaying all seven days in week view
    • Fixing an issue where Camera screen on iPad could be black when attempting to capture video
    • Addressing an issue that could cause instability in the Activity app when viewing the day of Daylight Savings Time transition
    • Fixing an issue that could prevent data from appearing in Health
    • Fixing an issue that could prevent Wallet updates and Lock screen alerts from displaying
    • Fixing an issue where some users were unable to login to Find my iPhone
    • Addressing an issue where using the iPad keyboard could unintentionally trigger text selection mode
    • Fixing an issue on Cyrillic keyboards where caps lock would be enabled when typing in URL or email fields
    • Fixing issues with VoiceOver when using Camera face detection
    • Fixing an issue with speech rate of Speak Screen
    • Fixing an issue with Guided Access when trying to end phone calls
It’s a pretty lengthy list covering almost every major area of the operating system (and actually omits mention of the Touch ID bug). That said, it also sets the standard for customer transparency in an age where Microsoft MSFT -1.85% has famously hidden numerous Windows 10 updates behind the vague description: “This update includes non-security-related changes to enhance the functionality of Windows 10 through new features and improvements.” Thanks a lot!
Of course, despite it containing a mass of bug fixes, iOS 9.2 also brings six handy new features to the table. Consequently, while it remains far from ideal that iOS 9 has run into so many issues in its short lifespan (the scale of which is unknown, but clearly wide enough for Apple to call them out directly) it is a long way from the “Just avoid holding it in that way” era of responses.
No software is ever bug free, but when bugs do come this is the sort of open admission users expect and deserve from all companies…

History of TaiG Jailbreak

With past experiances about jailbreaking we can keep our hopes about the TaiG9 team. TaiG is the team who released jailbreak tools for iOS 8.2, iOS 8.3 and iOS 8.4. After Apple's security improvements for iOS 8.4.1 only, it killed TaiG Jailbreak. As we all know there was a time period without a jailbreak tool for iOS 8.2 and iOS 8.3. But TaiG with its awesome set of developers, did a great job for jailbreak community by releasing jailbreak tools for the mentioned iOS versions.
Lee Chuan, who is an engineer of TaiG iOS 9.1 Jailbreak development team mentioned that they are still discovering iOS 9.1 and its security holes to develop a jailbreak tool. Further he mentioned that they hope to release it as soon as possible. The interviewer questioned whether they found any security holes to access the system root of iOS9 but Chuan just smiled and said "Not yet". That interview brought all the jailbreak lovers to a new perspective and they are waiting for TaiG to release the iOS 9.1 jailbreak tool as soon as possible. We cannot predict an exact release date but what we can say is the tool is on its way.

Cydia for iOS 9.1 running devices

You can istall Cydia easily to any device running on iOS 9.0, 9.0.x and iOS 9.1 by using TaiG 9 Jailbreak Tool. What you need to do is just visit taig9.com using your idevice and connect your iDevice with TaiG servers. It will automatically install Cydia on your iOS 9.1 running device within a few minutes. Getting Cydia to your iDevice is easier than ever with iOS 9.1 Jailbreak released by TaiG.

iPhone 6 iOS 9.2 Update ( iOS Assistance )

Last week, Apple released an iPhone 6 iOS 9.2 update in beta form. In the days since the release, we’ve seen some details emerge and today we want to take a look at everything iPhone 6 users need to know about their next big update.
iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users have been treated to a number of iOS 9 updates since mid-September. The first, iOS 9.0, delivered the company’s new operating system and all of its enhancements. iOS 9.0 lasted only a few days before Apple replaced it with iOS 9.0.1, a small bug fixer.
A week after that, Apple delivered iOS 9.0.2 and some additional bug fixes. And then a few weeks later, the company rolled out the iOS 9.1 update that’s currently available for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models around the world. iOS 9.1 won’t be around forever either.

In fact, Apple’s already confirmed a new iOS 9 upgrade for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The iOS 9.2 update rolled out last week and like iOS 9.1, it will be coming with a mixture of new features and fixes for the former flagship devices.
As we push further away from the initial iOS 9.2 beta release date, we’re starting to learn more and more about the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus iOS 9.2 updates. It’s still early in the process but we can learn a lot from a single beta update.
With that in mind, we want to take you through the important things to know, right now, about the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus iOS 9.2 updates.
Keep all of these things in mind as we push into the month of November towards an unknown iOS 9.2 release date.

iOS 9's Apple News expands publisher reach as readership climbs toward 40 million. ( iOS Assistance )

iOS 9's Apple News expands publisher reach as readership climbs toward 40 million.

by iOS Assistance

Apple News is already seeing strong adoption, with more than twice as many readers as Apple Music has listeners — no doubt because News is effortless to use, with no subscription plan or signup required. Apple is now expanding News app's publisher base by publicly documenting its underlying "Apple News Format" specification.

Apple News Format enables publishers to create dynamic, animated multimedia content their readers can access through iOS 9's new Apple News app, using simple markup.

Until now, Apple has limited access to its Apple News Format to a small group of publishing partners (including ESPN, The New York Times, Condé Nast publications and Hearst newspapers) as it worked out the final details.

Other publishers have been limited to submitting an RSS feed of their stories, which allows News readers to access only basic textual content and a link to the original web page that takes users out of the app, bypassing its features.

Condé Nast's Wired took advantage of the Apple News Format last month to publish an exclusive, dynamic feature written by Andrew Rice detailing an in-depth look at Bjarke Ingels Group, the architect behind New York City's $4 billion World Trade Center 2 project.

Now that the format is now open to all Apple News publishers, others can begin to format their articles with layouts that make use of app's advanced typography and iOS fonts; interactive photo galleries; in-line videos and animations; and modern layout conventions that involve motion and parallax effects."Nearly 40 million people are reading Apple News, and we've been getting very positive feedback from the publishers" - Tim Cook

In yesterday's conference call, Apple's chief executive Tim Cook noted that, "our iOS News app is off to a great start: Nearly 40 million people are reading Apple News, and we've been getting very positive feedback from the publishers."

Cook added, "we have now signed more than 70 publishers representing hundreds of titles, and we're happy to announce that News just launched in the United Kingdom and Australia with partners such as the BBC, News Corp, The Telegraph, The Guardian, Financial Times, Daily Mail and the Australian Broadcasting Service."

The rise of digital publishing leaves behind Flash

When iPad first appeared back in 2010, many periodical publishers — including Condé Nast — had Adobe-centric workflows that expected to deliver interactive digital magazines for mobile devices using Adobe Flash. The lack of Flash support on iOS prompted Condé Nast to instead publish a bulky app composed of high resolution pictures of its physical magazine, with more rudimentary navigation than a basic web page.

Publishers began looking for new alternatives to digital publishing as their basic "digital image" editions of existing magazines for iPad failed to garner much interest.

In 2011, Apple launched its "Newsstand" initiative as part of iOS 5. Newsstand sought to create an App Store-like market for digital newspapers and magazines delivered as subscription-based apps, enabling publishers to concentrate on content on top of the features of Apple's iOS platform.

Rather than being an app itself, Newsstand was essentially a special iOS folder Apple used to deliver publishers' subscriptions-based apps to users in the background, as new editions became available.

One problem for Newsstand was that publishers still needed to build full iOS apps to deliver each edition of their content.

One content publisher, the monthly travel magazine Trvl, decided that its Adobe InDesign workflow (like Condé Nast's) was not going to work because it generated such large app downloads that buyers "really hated us," in the words of the firm's co-founder Michel Elings.

The Netherlands-based company set out to build a custom tool optimized for digital publishing on iOS, resulting in Prss.

The company called its tool "the software Apple forgot to make," and launched plans to license it to other publishers, enabling them to create digital magazine apps that were a tenth the size of typical graphic apps exported from InDesign.

The software caught the attention of Apple over the course of the next year, and the company was subsequently acquired by the iPad-maker. Apparently fueled by Prss talent, Apple News shipped with iOS 9 earlier this year as a rich, efficient publishing medium that doesn't require publishers to package each edition of their work as an iOS app.

Instead, publishers can apply rich formatting with Markup, incorporating interactive and video content. Apple News then renders their content as multimedia articles users can favorite, share with friends or save for offline reading, using bookmarks that are iCloud-synced between a user's devices.

Apple News recommends articles of interest based on stories you've previously read, favorited or shared, in addition to the news channels and topics you explicitly select to follow.

Social news, recommended like songs

Apple News presents publishers' content, not as periodic editions, but as a user-customized stream of articles organized by topic. This not only mimics the modern consumption model of Facebook rather than emulating printed paper periodicals, but also bears some similarity to iTunes' disruptive shift in selling individual songs rather than packaged albums.

The result is that users can read and share news presented like a social network feed, but that each article has a consistent set of features that display within the app, rather than linking to disparate outside websites.

"The app cuts out the cruft, ad trackers and other elements found on many news sites that can slow loading times," observed Owen Williams of TheNextWeb.

Publishers can adopt iAd or their own ad network for content monetization within Apple News rather than trying to sell downloadable subscriptions.

Apple News readers can also follow a specific news channel, providing an experience more similar to a digital magazine or paper.

"For small publishers that simply don't have the resources to build their own native apps, it's a huge opportunity to play in the big leagues and get content in front of more people without having to spend any money," Williams added.

Another aspect of Apple News is that it's optimized to fully exploit the Retina Display of modern iPhones and iPads, something that basic websites often aren't.

Apple announced at the release of iOS 9 that existing Newsstand subscription apps would continue to work, but that the Newsstand folder would not longer appear by default. New subscription editions are now downloaded as standalone apps.

iOS 9.1 Jailbreak Update

The iOS jailbreak community is filled with quite a lot of jailbreak teams who have earned respectable positions amongst the jailbreak lovers. TaiG and Pangu teams are the leading ones, but there is one more team which deserves equal spotlight – the PP team. However, even the PP team has created fans for itself, who are eagerly waiting for PP iOS 9.1 jailbreak.

ios 9.1 jailbreak pp download

Apple is currently working on iOS 9.1 and has already released the 5th iOS 9.1 beta [at the time of writing this article]. The new firmware will be resolving most of the bugs found in iOS 9 and will be a perfect firmware to create a jailbreak for. The PP team, who had been in the middle of a controversy for allegedly stealing TaiG’s jailbreak exploits for iOS 8.3 and iOS 8.4 jailbreaks, has been inactive since iOS 8.4.1 patched their jailbreak. However, Team PP was the one to come up with a Mac jailbreak tool even before the TaiG team, which tells us that the PP team is no less than TaiG or Pangu. This ultimately leads us to believe that the PP team might be working on a PP iOS 9.1 jailbreak.

PP iOS 9.1 :

As for the exploits in iOS 9, it was only a couple of weeks ago when Apple gave credit to the Pangu and TaiG teams for discovering an important security exploit in the iOS 9 firmware. This tells us that both the teams were working on jailbreaking iOS 9. Pangu has already released their iOS 9 Jailbreak , Pangu 9 [ext link] . Right now there is no Mac version for the Pangu 9 jailbreak .  So if TaiG is preparing to jailbreak iOS 9.1 , then there is a huge possibility that even the PP team is working on the same. Because during iOS 8.3 and iOS 8.4, only the TaiG and PP teams were active and had rolled out jailbreaks for both the firmwares together, which is why it is highly likely that PP is gearing up for a jailbreak release this time too.

PP iOS 9.1 Jailbreak Release Date :

Meanwhile, Zerodium has offered one million dollars for a perfect chain of iOS 9 browser-based exploits. This comes as an encouragement to the jailbreak teams, and the 31st October deadline will definitely push all the teams to work harder. This makes us think that even the PP team is working on jailbreaking iOS 9.1 in order to win the million dollar bounty. We expect the PP iOS 9.1 jailbreak to come out right after the public release of iOS 9.1, so it can be any time soon.

PP Jailbreak

iOS 8 is probably one of the most jailbroken versions of the iOS firmware, with a jailbreak utility available for all versions from iOS 8 through to 8.4. And now, a brand new jailbreak has appeared to provide Mac users with an easy way of jailbreaking iOS 8.4, a function that was missing from the Taig jailbreak. It’s called PP Jailbreak and it has come, with no warning, from what appears to be a team of Chinese hackers.

Image : PP Jailbreak Download

pp jailbreak 8.4
So far, it has not been tested by developers to see if it is safe to use so, if you do choose to install it, you do so at your own risk. Please note that we will not be liable nor will we take any responsibility for any issues that may arise as a result of downloading and installing the jailbreak, either on your mac or on your iOS device.
The name PP will be familiar to those who used Evasi0n to jailbreak iOS 7 and Pangu to jailbreak iOS 7 and 8. With both of those jailbreak utilities, unless otherwise directed, a Chinese pirate app store called 25PP would be downloaded alongside Cydia and the same is true of this latest jailbreak. It is only available in the Chinese language at this stage but we expect an English version in due course.

PP Jailbreak Supported Devices :

iOS 9.1 update

Image result for ios 9

Before we dive into new iOS 9 features, we can already explore what's even newer in iOS 9.1, which is now available to beta software testers using a compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
As you can see from the screenshot above, it include new emojis, including a taco, burrito, unicorn face, hot dog, popcorn, turkey and cheese wedge, and yes, even a silly middle finger.
This over-the-air update may also bring new compatibility to the iPad Pro, with its high resolution screen and Apple Pencil stylus, but so far there are new detailed release dates.
iOS 9.1 can be downloaded through the Apple Beta Software program (instructions above), and should be available to everyone else soon. iOS 8.1, for example came out in October.

 iOS 9 siri features

Smarter Siri

Siri in iOS 9 is getting the much-needed smarts to rival Google Now. Apple's personal assistant understands the word "it" within context and brings proactivity to the operating system.
For example, if you're talking about a topic with someone in iMessages and ask Siri to "Remind me about 'this' later today," it'll scan the open app and try to understand what "this" means.
iOS 9 proactivity puts even more at your fingertips through Siri. It suggests appointments to add to Calendar, and pulls up photos based on location and time with the sound of your voice.
Siri's location-based knowledge appears to be most promising when you're out and about. Plugging in headphones at the gym? It'll offer the Now Playing interface right on the lockscreen.
Plugging it into your car? It'll bring up that audiobook you were listening to before. It'll even tell you when to leave for an appointment across town, a feature that has made Google's app for iOS a must-have.
Saying "Hey Siri" to issue commands while untethered from the usually-required light cable is going to be possible, too. However, this iOS 9 feature has only been announced for the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.
One of the most convenient new iOS 9 features is giving context to random numbers that call you, diving into your email to see if it can match the digits. Goodbye, telemarketers – we hope.
Siri already takes over one billion requests a week, according to Apple. That should only increase now that iOS 9 promises to make Siri 40% faster and 40% more accurate.

Apple Pay expands

Apple Pay has been touted as a success over the last 11 months in the US, and now the iPhone-backed mobile payment platform has made its way to the UK.

iOS 9 release date and features

The official Apple Pay UK launch of July 14 was backed by nearly 70% of credit and debit cards there, including Bank of Scotland, HSBC and, most recently, Lloyds Bank and Halifax.
Canada and China are thought to be next up for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus mobile payment platform, but the company hasn't announce that broad of an expansion just yet.
In the US, Apple Pay is now backed by 2,500 US banks and, this fall, rewards and store-issued cards will be a part of the mobile wallet. This is an idea we liked about Android Pay at Google IO in May.
Considering these newfound iOS 9 capabilities, Apple is renaming Passbook (the app where Apple Pay resides) to Wallet. It has also made the Apple Pay-required Touch ID fingerprint sensor twice as fast as before on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
That may be enough to compete with the September 28 launch of Samsung Pay on the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and its other new Android phones, which use even more nifty magnetic strip technology in addition to NFC.

Apple Maps

Apple Maps is sometimes unavoidable, even if you're a dedicated Google Maps user. Siri and built-in apps still open directions up in the default navigation app. That won't change.

The good news is that iOS 9 is going to make Apple Maps better, and maybe even tolerable. In its first major refresh since 2013, the app now includes long-awaited public transit directions.
That means routes for buses, trains, subways and, yes, even ferries are part of Apple Maps. This goes live this fall in Baltimore, Berlin, Chicago, London, Mexico City, New York City, Philadelphia, the San Francisco Bay Area, Toronto and Washington D.C.
Notably, it'll support directions for 300 cities in China, a huge emerging market for the iPhone, including hotspots like Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai.
Just don't expect it much more than that to sway you from Google Maps or Waze. The design changes are minimal and, as we articulately point out in our iOS 9 review, it clearly needs more UI work, not just new features.

Apple News app

iOS 9 release date and features

In addition to getting rid of Passbook in favor of Wallet in iOS 9, Apple is replacing Newsstand with News, and it's very familiar if you're a fan of magazine-style news aggregators.
Apple News for iOS 9 is Flipboard, HTC BlinkFeed and Feedly wrapped into one app. It features a personalized feed and is coming to US, UK and Australia at launch.
There's also Apple News integration outside of this app right on one of the home screens. Four or five snippets of news appear within the left-most menu, right below spotlight search, recent contacts and recent apps. In this way, Apple is mimicking Samsung's left-most Flipboard menu, with less pizzazz.
No telling if all of your favorite publishers will wrap their content in the fresh Apple News format. The advantage to you, however, is more clear: your data will remain anonymous, apart from your Apple ID, according to the company.

Multitasking for iPad

iOS 9 brings true multitasking to its newer iPad tablets, and we're not talking about the "multitasking" app switcher that premiered with iOS 4 back in 2010.

iOS 9 brings true multitasking to its newer iPad tablets, and we're not talking about the "multitasking" app switcher that premiered with iOS 4 back in 2010.
iPads will finally be able to handle more hefty productivity tasks. That's to the delight of enterprise users who prefer iOS for personal use, but feel forced to opt for a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 or Android tablet at work.
There are three ways to view multitasking windows on an iPad. Slide Over brings a second app from the side so you can answer a text or write something in Notes. It's just as easy to slide away.
There's also a special Picture-in-Picture mode that puts videos and FaceTime calls in the corner of the display when the home button is pressed. From there, you can use any other app while watching the video. Google's YouTube app for iOS works this very same way, at least within that specific app.
Both Slide Over and Picture-in-Picture are compatible with newer iPads: iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 2 and iPad mini 3. The last mode, Split View, is an iPad Air 2-only affair, though Apple announced that iPad Pro would support all multitasking functionality, too, when it arrives in November.
Split View is the mode that everyone imagines when they hear the word "multitasking." It enables two apps to be open side-by-side and they're both active at the same time, with full multitouch support.
Apple is clearly honing on the enterprise user with its latest tablet software features and iPad Pro announcement today.

New iOS 9 keyboard

Apple launched what it called its "best keyboard yet" with the iOS 8 QuickType, and it's trying to one-up that statement with the iOS 9 keyboard.

iPad's on-screen keyboard now features a built-in shortcut bar, which flanks the next-word suggestions above the QWERTY letter keys. Shorts are context sensitive and include cut, copy and paste to the left; bold, italic, underline and attachments to the right.
That's better than having to hunt for these shortcuts in the second layer of the keyboard menu, and in a surprise move, Apple is making this default layout customizable and compatible with third-party keyboard apps.
Cursor control is now easier with a handy (or fingery) slide mechanic when using two fingers. It basically turns the iPad QuickType keyboard into an trackpad. It's way easier than hovering over the tiny cursor, trying to land in between letters.
Finally, shortcuts are coming to wireless keyboards so that you can interact with apps using their own built-in shortcut keys. Pressing and holding the Command, Option or Control key brings up the shortcut list.

iOS 9 Wi-Fi problems fix

Apple has also worked out a solution for when your Wi-Fi connection is proving to be a massive pain. It's called Wi-Fi Assist, and it'll automatically drop your Wi-Fi connection and jump onto your mobile network whenever it's struggling.
You can switch it off if you're on a limited data package but it's a great idea for those who have spotty Wi-Fi connections and get annoyed at having to manually control it.

Under the hood

New features are exciting and all, but iOS 9 needs to run better than iOS 8, which had a series of Wi-Fi and battery drain problems from the get-go. Some users are still complaining about last year's software.

Longer battery life is a chief concern of iPhone users, but they can squeeze out an extra hour thanks to a new Low Power mode. Apple says iOS 9 pulls switches you didn't even know existed to save juice.
You may be able to install iOS 9 this time around without deleting all of your photos. It'll take about 1.3GB, whereas iOS 8 needed a massive 4.5GB of internal storage. That was awful on a 16GB iPhone.
CPU and GPU usage will be more efficient thanks to iOS 9, further improving performance, and security is said to be stepped up. Hopefully that means last year's iCloud hack isn't going to be an annual incident.
Not mentioned during Apple WWDC keynote, a "Move to iOS" app is hidden within iOS 9. It'll be easier to wirelessly switch from an Android device to a new iOS phone or tablet.
iPhone and iPad users may be surprised when asked to enter a six-digit passcode instead of an easier-to-crack four digit code. But it's the difference between one million possible combinations and 10,000, and Touch ID really makes the hassle a moot point. Better safe than sorry.
Apple's rather confident iOS 9 public beta is showing a lot of promise, even if it's an incremental update. Google's Android Marshmallow is taking the same cautious approach. We'll see how they both turn out in a matter of days.

iOS 9 is proving to be more inclusive than previous iOS versions. Apple is choosing to make this update compatible with older iPhone, iPad and even iPod touch

Okay, it's not technically more inclusive beyond the immediately launched iPad mini 4. The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus still have to launch next Friday, September 25, and the iPad Pro lands sometime in November. Then the list will grow by three. It'll become a total of six when the iPad Air 3 and iPhone 6C eventually release.
Basically, if your dated hardware runs iOS 8, it can run iOS 9, and that's good news, as older phones and tablets aren't getting muscled out. The iPhone 4S and iPad 2 are safe, for now, and a few 30-pin dock devices live on for another year.
